Language tasks create novelty, build community and create opportunity for authentic data to process in the target language with a group of students.
Can the classroom replicate authentic situations?
One can argue that tasks in a classroom, simply, are not authentic. But tasks offer a novel way to process language for learners with the potential to form a new connection between learner and language.
