Two friends attempt to figure out each other as one claims to have a secret. Is it a joke? Although Piso et Syra et potiones mysticae contains numerous cognates, there is a depth to the story to keep a Latin reader engaged. This structure allows a novice level Latin reader an opportunity to connect with a story with more detail than most level A or B titles.
The story remains in the present tense as the friends discuss Piso’s challenge. Narration with dialogue interspersed allow the novice level reader many reps with all verb endings.
